As a photographer, I've had the privilege of capturing countless senior portraits over the years, but Lauryn's session truly stood out. From the moment she arrived at my home studio, her poise and dedication to her studies were undeniable. Lauryn's primary focus was a stunning studio session as she needed a professional headshot for an upcoming publication in her Girl Scout vest, a symbol of her unwavering commitment to the organization and her pursuit of the prestigious Gold Award.

For those unfamiliar, the Gold Award is the highest honor a Girl Scout can achieve, requiring a comprehensive project that demonstrates remarkable leadership skills, a commitment to community service, and a passion for making a lasting impact. Needless to say, Lauryn's dedication to this endeavor left me in awe.

Her gold Award project was called “Dream In STEAM” - you have to check this out!!!

Dream In STEAM

After observing a lack of inclusion in her school environment, Lauryn sprang into action to create “Dream in STEAM,” a book published to highlight and honor people of color who have been trailblazers in the science, technology, engineering, arts, and math fields. Lauryn self-published her book online and spread the message of inclusion by hosting weekly reading sessions and STEAM project demonstrations to inspire young audiences to achieve their goals just as the figures included in her book. Lauryn’s book, “Dream in STEAM,” secured a position in the top 100 on Amazon’s science books chart, and through her weekly sessions, Lauryn was able to impact over 100 children with her message of inclusion and STEAM, all enroute to a prestigious Girl Scout Gold Award.

But her accomplishments didn't stop there. As we transitioned to her choir gown, I couldn't help but feel a sense of pride knowing that Lauryn would soon be graduating from Basis Scottsdale with honors – a testament to her academic excellence and unwavering work ethic.

While the studio provided a beautiful, controlled setting for our session, Lauryn also expressed a desire to incorporate the natural beauty of the desert landscape. And so, we ventured outdoors, where the warm, golden hues of the Arizona sunset cast a stunning glow upon her radiant smile.

Throughout our time together, I was struck by Lauryn's poise and professionalism. She carried herself with a maturity beyond her years, a quality that will undoubtedly serve her well as she embarks on her next adventure at the University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill's Honors College to pursue a major in chemistry.

As an aspiring student in the prestigious field of Pharmacy Research and Science, Lauryn's future is brimming with limitless possibilities. Her unwavering dedication, coupled with her natural talent and intellect, have positioned her for great success in this highly competitive realm.

To all the high school juniors and seniors out there, Lauryn's story is a powerful reminder of the incredible heights one can achieve through hard work, passion, and a steadfast commitment to pursuing one's dreams. Her senior portraits are a celebration of her remarkable journey thus far and a glimpse into the boundless potential that lies ahead.
