Planning Your Senior Session: The Early Bird Gets the Photoshoot ⏰

Class of 2025 seniors & parents, senior portraits are more than just pretty pictures. They're a way to freeze this pivotal moment in your child's life, a time capsule of their hopes, dreams, and unique personality. One of the most significant portraits in a person’s life- because think of it…how often does a person have a solo portrait session? While obviously I think portraits should happen more often, most photos are with family and friends, or at a wedding, maybe a work headshot. Senior Portraits capture the once-in-a-lifetime evolution from child to adult as they embark on a new adventure and so many changes.

Here's the thing though: senior sessions are popular, and while there are amazing photographers across the valley, this year my calendar as well as several other senior photographer I know filled up by mid-February! Every year I have to turn folks away because I fill up and there are only so many days in a month. I really hate it. Most school yearbooks want images for yearbook ads and more as early as November to as late as January. Announcements to friends and family to celebrate your senior and/or invitations to grad parties need to be made and ready to mail by mid-April (especially if family from out of town want to attend ceremonies and parties- they need to book flights early)

As a senior photographer with experience watching parents plan and as a parent to kids who have graduated as well, I feel the ideal time for senior portraits is November and December, or if spring portraits are wanted March to the first week of April.

Some parents don’t schedule portraits until late April and May…then are upset they don’t get the date they wanted if they get a date at all. Or they miss yearbook and banquet deadlines. Or they don’t have time for announcements and the seniors miss out on those long thin congratulatory envelopes full of checks.

Don't miss out – book your session early to secure your spot.

Edgy or traditional….I’d love to capture your Senior Story!

Don't let this special time slip away! Contact me today to schedule and start planning your dream senior portrait session. I can't wait to collaborate with you and create a session that's as unique and unforgettable as your graduating senior. Let's make their senior year shine!

FAQs:

What should I expect during my senior portrait session?

Our session together will be laid back, relaxed and hopefully fun! I'll guide you through different poses and locations, but there's plenty of room for you to express yourself and have some laughs.

What should I wear to my senior portrait session?

There are no hard and fast rules! The best outfits reflect your personality and style. Think about a mix of casual and dressy options, and don't forget to bring accessories that add a personal touch. Check this out: bit.ly/WhatToWearSeniorPictures

When should I book my senior portrait session?

The earlier, the better! Especially with limited availability, booking early ensures you get your preferred date and time. why stress and put it off all year? It just gets busier and busier after January.

My top suggestion is November and December

If spring portraits are wanted March to no later than the first week of April.

What locations do you offer for senior portraits?

I offer a variety of locations to suit your style, from urban landscapes to natural settings. Or I should say, Phoenix, Arizona, and the world do! 80% of seniors choose outdoor on-site locations. I also offer fantastic fashion studio locations! I can also accommodate special requests if you have a particular place in mind.

Where are you located?

I am located in North Phoenix Arizona. I cover all of Phoenix, Az. to 30 miles around town- and I will absolutely fly to Iceland of whereever if you want the most epic of sessions! I relocated from Hendersonville, Tn home of Johny Cash. I am available to travel.

What about blemishes?

Don’t worry! Everyone has days, weeks, months etc with less-than-perfect skin. You shouldn’t have to live with once-in-a-lifetime portraits that have a temporary blemish. Applying makeup properly can help. Makeup in photography is gender neutral and can show me where you want a touch-up done while I edit. I go over each final image to remove minor skin blemishes. Most braces can be removed at this time but there is an extra fee. However, I do not do extensive body modifications: my policy is that if it’s temporary I remove it. If it’s permanent it stays! Be loving and accepting of who you are and the natural beauty you possess.

The Bra and Stubble Clause

Everyone should come to their session ready to be photographed as they appear! I will let you know if something peeks out or a hair needs adjusting (what are those hanger strings in shirts called? I’ll let you know if I see it!) It’s probably too late after the gallery is delivered, because while I can edit stubble and undergarments out…the fee is an additional $50 per image.

How long will it take to receive my senior portraits?

You'll typically receive your final digital images within 3-4 weeks of your session but if you need exact dates..here ya go!

Sept/Oct : 3 weeks from Final Payment

November:   4 weeks (not including holidays)from Final Payment

December:   3 -4 weeks (not including weekends OR holidays) from final payment

Jan/Feb/Mar : 3 weeks from Final Payment
